| The Douglas DC-3 became the workhorse of the airlines from the mid 1930's. A medium sized airliner, it proved economical and reliable providing a boost to early airline business. It was a great canvas for colorful markings and among the most recognizable were the red white and blue livery of Eastern Air Lines.
